Enrolments

When we welcome a new family to our community, it is with the intention of them staying with us for the rest of their schooling years.

At Wa Ora Montessori School, we are serious about educating children and feel that while our Montessori preschool gives your child a great start, the primary years are where all the groundwork of the 3–6 programme comes to fruition. The adolescent programme follows seamlessly, leading to young adults sure of their ability to contribute positively to the world.

We want families to commit to being part of our school for many years and our enrolment process is designed to ensure that you are fully informed when you make Montessori the choice for your child.

The enrolment steps are shown in the diagram to the right.  During this enrolment process you visit, ask questions and learn how our school may be a good fit for your child and family.

Wa Ora Montessori School is currently only accepting enrolments for three year olds in the preschool, and in the under-three playgroup.  There are very few places available for children in the primary and high school.

To enrol in the  under-three playgroup simply check with the school office to see if there is place available on the day you wish to attend.

Introduction to Montessori Evening
Prospective families are expected to attend one Introduction to Montessori evening, where Montessori philosophy and our school are explained.  Introduction to Montessori evenings are held once every term from 7.30–9.00pm.  Contact our school office to find out the date for the next session.  There is no need to book and everyone is welcome.

Observation Morning
Families wishing to enrol also need to observe a preschool and primary class.  The observation mornings are held on alternate Tuesdays from 9.30am–12.00noon (except for the first and last weeks of term) and are for adults only.  The principal will take you on a tour of the school and then to the observation classes, and give you an information sheet with some suggestions for what to look out for during your observation.

Waiting List
When you have attended the Introduction to Montessori evening and the Observation Morning, you may ask for an application for enrolment from the office.
Children are then placed on a waiting list. If there is a place available, close to your child’s third birthday we will ask you to come in for an interview with the principal or a teacher to assess whether your child is ready to join the Wa Ora Montessori Preschool community. This interview is for you and your child and is a time for the child, parents and teacher to introduce themselves to each other and ask any questions. Please note that an interview is not a guarantee of a place in the school.

The enrolment fee is $70 for one child and $25 for siblings.  It is non-refundable and does not guarantee placement.
