Enrolment Criteria
Selection and Admission for Wa Ora Montessori 3-6 year programme
Selection and admission to preschool classrooms are generally made four times per year at the beginning of each school term. Exceptions are considered where a child transfers from another Montessori school.
The selection process for offering a child a placement is based on:
1. Restrictions of Wa Ora Montessori and statutory early childhood teacher/student ratios.
2. Waiting list priority and age.
Admission Priority
As a vacancy becomes available in the classes, children are offered a place. The entering age for the 3 – 6 programme is before or at three years of age, at the discretion of the teachers.
Admission preferences are given in the following order:
- Foundation members and siblings.
- Children staying for preschool and primary.
- Siblings of attending children
- Children with previous Montessori experience/ transfers.
- New applicants
Note: After placement, a probationary period applies for six weeks and is applicable to all children.
Placement of a child in a 3 – 6 class does not guarantee that child a place in a primary class.
Enrolment and Admission in the Under Three Playgroup
There are no criteria for enrolment and admission to the under three playgroup other than a space being available in the session you wish to attend. The playgroup currently operates Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday mornings.
